Many people of the world will say “I love Jesus” but do they really mean it? Jesus said “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). The same ones that say they love Jesus do not even attempt to keep His commandments. Therefore, we can conclude from the statement that Jesus made that if one really does love Jesus they WILL keep His commandments. One of His commandments is “not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together” (Hebrews 10:25), yet some claiming to be Christians have not proven themselves to be faithful in their attendance and therefore we must all wonder do they really love Jesus? The answer must be “NO” based upon Jesus’ statement of John 14:15. Those who love the Lord WILL keep his commandments. The commandments of Jesus are spiritual, they are sent from God the Father as we can read about in Acts 10:33; 2 Peter 3:2; 2:21. These commandments are not human. Jesus said in Matthew 15:9: “in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” The commandments that we as Christians keep should be blameless as it says in Luke 1:6 “And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.”
In addition, we should keep the commandments without reproach as Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 6:14. The commandments that we are instructed to keep are life long. The same verse in 1 Timothy 6:14 tells us to “….keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing.” Some are guilty of keeping only part of the commandments of Jesus, even though He said to keep all of His commandments as stated in Matthew 2:20; Luke 1:6; 17:10. We as Christians should not only strive to keep the commandments of Jesus because we love Him but also because it is our duty (Ecclesiastes 12:13; Luke 17:10), to be blessed (Revelation 22:14), to be His friends (John 15:14), and to be righteous in order to enter into the kingdom of God (Luke 1:6; Revelation 22:14).
Do you really love Jesus? If so, then you WILL keep ALL of His commandments!
